Softball Playoffs

Softball

Teams play a 12 to 18 game schedule (plus playoffs) of umpired games on regulation fields. The season will start in April. Divisions are broken into age groups of 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, AND 18U. Games are typically held on weekdays @ 5:30 pm and 8:00 pm at the Complex, 5:30 pm Homer Jr High schools. Weekend games will be played on Saturdays at satellite fields as well as the Complex. Saturday games will be played at 8am, 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm 6pm and 8pm (Complex only). Sundays will typically be designated for make-up dates. NEW IN 2009....12U, 14U, and 18U levels will play in the Southwest Suburban Girls Fast Pitch league. We will play REC level teams from surrounding areas like ours. There will also be a season ending tournament. GIRLS SOFTBALL IS USING TEAM NAMES FROM PRO FAST PITCH LEAGUE - Chicago Bandits, Texas Thunder, New England Riptide, Glory Arizona Heat, and Sunfire

.Family Participation

The Family Participation fee is $50.00.  You will receive gift certificates for  your participation in a baseball/softball function. (Field Maintenance, Coach, etc.)  The certificates can then be redeemed from one of our sponsors. This program was devised as a means to reduce our Administrative costs as well as encouraging much-needed new Sponsorship

Responsibilities (League director)

1.    Help Softball Director run the tryout and draft in late March this includes running player selections with Managers 
2.    Be active member of All Star Committee and represent your Division
3.    Assist with All Star tryouts and selections (once All Star managers are named then they take over all the All Star coordination)
4.    Review your Division rules and make any changes that you deem necessary (should solocit input from previous Division managers)
5.    Finalize rosters with Softball Director and send out to Managers 
6.    Hold meeting with Division Managers (includes other leagues) before season starts to review league rules and get buy-in
7.    Hand out uniforms and make sure Managers know when to pick up equipment bags and balls
8.    Coordinate with Softball Director the field use for your Division team practices (this typically occurs in the month of April)
9.    Make sure Managers are reporting final scores to Softball Director within 48 hours of game completion; also need to track games where umpires did not show up
10.  If applicable, make final decision on if a game should be canceled or not;  typically Softball Director will make this call or the Managers - there may be instances when the managers call you for your input
11.  Assist Softball Director with rescheduling of canceled games throughout the season and communicating to managers
12.  Assist Softball Director with playoff scheduling and making sure tournaments are completed
13.  Present trophies to 1st and 2nd place teams from regular season
14.  Present trophies to 1st and 2nd place teams from playoff tournament
15.  Make sure all equipment bags are returned (typically just communicating with the Managers)
16.  Make sure all Participation coupons are dispersed to team managers
17.  Make sure Managers know about dates and times for training sessions with Homer Hawks (Dave Betcher will be coordinating most of this)
