.SOFTBALL

NEW for 2009 Season; Bronco, Pony and Colt Divisions will join the Southwest Suburban Girls Fast Pitch Softball League. We will play Home and Road games against our own teams plus surrounding Communities. We will also be a part of a season ending Tournament. For more information go to http://eteamz.active.com/SWS

Pinto and Mustang Divisions will play games against Lockport's Little Miss program

Homer Athletic Club Softball program allows girls between the ages of 5 and 18 an opportunity to play in an organized fast pitch program. HAC follows guidelines set forth by ASA for its softball program.

Our leagues are safe, fun and very instructional. No experience necessary! If your child has never played before or if your child is a "seasoned vet", HAC programs have lots to offer.

Why Play Softball in Homer Glen?

Our league is designed to serve the kids of our community. We have rules that our players and families love-- it keeps them coming back every season. Here are a few things to consider about our leagues:

  • Continuous batting order.  All players are in the batting order and we rotate 1-thru-12, as opposed to a typical 10-player lineup where your child may only get one at-bat per game. In our leagues players don't "ride the pine" when it comes to hitting.
  • All Kids get a chance to play "fun" positions. Most kids don't like to get stuck playing in the outfield all of the time. In most of our leagues we encourage Managers to have every kid play an infield position every game.
  • Bottom Line is that we build lasting memories.  Our leagues are about fun, teaching, participating, learning, winning and losing, and occasionally being the team hero with that timely hit or great play.  When our children are grown, we want them to remember their softball days with fond memories.

League Structure for 2008

Pinto (7&8) Mustang (9&10) Teams play a 10 to 16 game schedule (plus playoffs) of umpired games on regulation fields. The season will run from April to mid July. Games are held weekdays @ 5:30 pm at designated satellite fields, 5:30pm and 8:00pm at the Complex and Saturdays for most divisions.

Our leagues are safe, fun and very instructional. No experience necessary! If your child has never played before or if your child is a "seasoned vet", HAC programs have lots to offer.

League Boundaries. Our leagues cover the entire area of Homer Township. Because we play at fields provided by the Township and local school districts (ultimately the taxpayers of Homer Township), Players outside the Township  are required to pay a nominal "out of district" fee.

HAC Softball follows ASA rules. We follow the rules and regulations that are outlined within the ASA guidelines.  Exceptions to these rules can be found under each league's rules page

Our Softball leagues are age based instructional leagues  If our kids are not "over or under matched" with the competition, then they are more likely to enjoy the experience and are likely to return the following season. The below table outlines our leagues:

Family Participation Program Details

At the time each family registers for one of the Homer Athletic Club’s sports programs, a family participation fee is collected.  This is a once per family, per sport fee that is redeemable through volunteerism in an HAC program or event.  The Homer Athletic Club is an “all” volunteer organization and the assistance of families is both needed and appreciated.

The purpose of the family participation fee is two-fold.  First, it supplies additional monies in order to help the club underwrite the various sports programs, which require the allocation of equipment, facilities and the cost associated with them and to compensate officials who umpire or referee the various sports contests.

Secondly, it provides the means for the Club to encourage sponsorship from area businesses.  You will receive vouchers equal in amount to the family participation fee collected.   These vouchers will be numbered and be authenticated by the signature of the issuer, at the time it is given to you.  When you have satisfied the required amount of volunteer participation (two and one half hours per $25) the voucher will be authorized for redemption by a signature from your child’s head coach or manager.

Redeeming the vouchers will now be easier, as well.  As before, you will still be able to redeem your participation vouchers one hour before each monthly HAC General Meeting at the Old Town Hall on Cedar Road at 161st Street, next to Schilling School.  What’s new is, now you will be able to redeem the participation vouchers at your convenience.  The T-Time Family Fun Center at 13750 W. 159th Street will be our “anytime” redemption center.  You can redeem your vouchers “anytime” during T-Time’s regular business hours, making the program more family friendly.  We recommend that the vouchers be redeemed prior to the beginning of next season of the sport for which they were issued.

HAC has more than 50 neighborhood businesses that sponsor the club and the number is growing.   Most of the sponsors participate in the gift card/certificate program so your redemption options are broad ranging and plentiful.  More than that, though, it gives everyone a chance to advance the sports experience their child has by being an integral part of the success of the Homer Athletic Club.

Our focus is on the most positive experience we can provide for the children of the community and our sharpest tool is our families.  Thank you for entrusting your son or daughter’s sports interest to us and thank you, in advance, for your generous participation.

Please patronize our Sponsors!!
